Chaz grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he got his start in the performing arts at the ripe old age of 1. His parents, who were swing dance instructors, taught him how to cha-cha and his feet haven't stopped moving since!
Chaz enrolled in dance classes at Pinnell Dance Centre in Gahanna, OH and began acting in theatre with Phoenix Theatre Circle. He found his love for musical theatre in The Who's Tommy while playing the 4-year-old version of the title character. His family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where Chaz found himself dancing more than ever while continuing his training at The Dance Zone in Henderson, NV. Chaz even appeared on CBS's "The King of Queens" as a Young Jerry Stiller and competed on ABC’s “Good Morning America” in their Greatest Dancer in America Challenge. Chaz won the US Championships and won the Bronze Medal for America in the World Tap Dance Championships at the age of 14. Chaz graduated with High Honors from Coronado High School.
Chaz went on to major in Dance Performance at the prestigious Oklahoma City University. He excelled through his four years at the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management, reaching the highest levels in dance technique classes and graduating Summa Cum Laude. Chaz was a member of the award-winning American Spirit Dance Company and served as the Company Deputy and Dance Captain.
Over the summers during college, Chaz started gaining professional experience in wonderful theatres like Music Theatre of Wichita, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Gretna Theatre and The Moon River Theatre in Branson.
Since earning his BFA, Chaz has been busy! Two days after graduation, Chaz was offered the role of Mistoffelees on the National Tour of Cats, a dream role of Chaz's. He toured with the show for about six months and then took the leap and moved to New York City. Chaz counts himself lucky to say he has now performed at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, The Fireside, Gateway Playhouse, Fulton Theatre, Casa Mañana, Westchester Broadway Theatre, Gretna Theatre and was invited back to the Cats tour for its 30th Anniversary Tour. Chaz has made appearances in HBO's High Maintenance, Anderson Live and off-Broadway in Prince of Christmas. Chaz has also donated his time to perform for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS annual fundraising shows: Gypsy of the Year and Easter Bonnet.
Chaz is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association who is also building his choreography resume with recent choreography credit at Forestburgh Playhouse for their production of Mary Poppins. Chaz teaches and choreographs for many nationwide conventions, dance studios across the US and professional dance centers in NYC. He served on faculty at Astoria Fine Arts, for Broadway Connection, and for Stage Door Connection! He currently teaches for Inside Broadway in NYC, developing musicals and directing public school students. He also teaches for Dancers Responding to AIDS and Dancers Against Cancer.
Chaz just completed touring as one of the newsies, Buttons, in the First National Tour of Disney’s Newsies after visiting 70 cities, performing over 750 performances and spending two years on the road. The show filmed a live version at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre, which was released in movie theatres as Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical in February and March 2017! Chaz also produced & directed four cabarets for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS while on tour with Newsies and is proud of leading the fundraising campaign that raised over $400k for the incredible charity.
